The IMAGE Summit with a View: Researching the City: Mapping Imaginaries took place on 8 November 2022 at Amsterdam University of Applied Science (Amsterdam, The Netherlands).
This multiplier event showcased the results and the outputs of the IMAGE: Researching the city, mapping imaginaries project that we have been running together with our partner universities in Amsterdam, Barcelona, Paris, Lisbon, and Vienna, co-funded by Erasmus+.
We choose to organise a live event, rather than a hybrid event. We presented the results and connected with local population of Amsterdam Zuidoost this event in cooperation with our city partners in Amsterdam Zuidoost, Pakhuis de Zwijger, New Metropolis Zuidoost and City Council Southeast.
The programme was offered in three different locations to illustrate the mapping activities.
Location 1: during the IMAGE Summit we had a morning session at Amsterdam Southeast City Council’s Raadzaal (stadsdeelkantoor Anton de Komplein, 1102 CW Amsterdam Zuidoost)
During this session, we embedded our findings in rounds of presentations, discussions, and outlined visions for the future.
Location 2: the midday session started with a plenary lunch at Corry Tendeloohuis, the business campus of the Faculty of Business and Economics of Amsterdam University of Applied Science, Fraijlemaborg 133 and was followed by workshops and activities. We ended with a plenary discussion involving experts like:
Location 3: the post-afternoon session at New Metropolis involved many locals and offered movement, music, reflections, and festive drinks. During this part of the programme the richness of the Amsterdam Zuidoost neighbourhood was shown. People who function as role models to the youth in Zuidoost performed in music or rap sessions. Some also shared their journey from a difficult start and sometimes criminal involvement, to finding inspiration in music and education and now are involved in neighbourhood projects to support the youth.
